Our company is a family owned business specialising in manufacturing high quality pastry products using methods, recipes and techniques handed down from generation to generation. Unlike many other companies, ours is truly unique, having remained under the same ownership for thirty years. It is this longevity in business which has promoted the pride in quality and workmanship which presents Gato’s Pastizzi as the premier product on the market. Now with eleven varieties of fillings in a hand formed shell of crisp, rolled flake pastry, Gatos’s Pastizzi is a finger food unlike any other. Our factory outlet stocks the full range of Pastizzi Products including our expanding range of Maltese Pasta Products. These now include the ever popular Traditional Ricotta Ravioli, Jumbo Ricotta Ravioli, Jumbo Ricotta, Peas & Bacon Ravioli and the new Jumbo Beef Bolognaise Ravioli. Stop Press: Now stocking Nonna's Sausages, winner of 8 categories at The Royal Easter Show. 2009. The Original Maltese Cafe The Original Maltese Cafe is an icon of the Sydney Cafe Scene. It was originally located a couple of hundred meters south of its present location, directly opposite the old Crown St Womens Hospital. It out grew its tiny premises that had served so well from the early fifties. In 1987, it moved to the current larger premises, much closer to Oxford St. The original owners, Leli and his brother Joe have since passed on, allowing the business to fall into the hands of several operators, before finally being taken over by Charles and Joseph Hili of Gato's Pastizzi in September 2008. The new owners bring much needed experience which is reflected in the quality and consistencey of all Pastizzi products available at the cafe. The plan is to make slight changes which will enhance the cafes reputation with out taking away its retro style and feel. As part of the change, one of the walls of the cafe will be dedicated to prints of paintings by local artist, Rudy Kistler, who specialises in oil on canvass depictions of local landmarks. Rudy came to our attention after seeing his painting of the historic group of shops The Maltese Cafe is part of. The café is open seven days a week and serves ten types of piping hot Pastizzi, including traditional Maltese pasta meals and cappuccinos. Now introducing to our menu; Gnocchi, Tortellini, Beef Ravioli, Bunny Rabbit Stew on Spaghetti (available first weekend of every month untill established). Please Note: Hot and Frozen Pastizzi pricing is not the same at The Maltese Cafe as The Carramar factory outlet. Pricing for the Maltese Cafe appear under The Maltese Cafe section on the Products Page.
